Our Location

By Car

La Trobe University (Bundoora) campus is situated in the north-eastern suburb of Bundoora, at the intersection of Plenty Road and Kingsbury Drive, 14 kms from the Melbourne city centre. See Melways Maps 19 & 474. The Australian Institute of Archaeology is not located within the main campus of the University but within the adjacent Mont Park estate. From Waiora Road, turn left at Terrace Way and follow the road past the EPA Vehicle Testing Station. The Institute is clearly marked with signs.

Vehicle Parking. A car park is located at the rear of the Institute Building as shown on the map.

By Train - The closest train station is Macleod Station (Hurstbridge Line). From the station walk up Cherry Street and turn right at Waiora Road. Turn left down Terrace Way to the Institute.

By Tram to La Trobe University

Route 86: Telstra Dome, City - Bundoora/RMIT
Tram 86 runs directly from the Harbour Esplanade in the Docklands (near the Telstra Dome), along Bourke St via Spencer St Station, through the city, up Smith St in Collingwood, through Clifton Hill then up High St through Northcote and Preston. From there it turns right up Plenty Rd, stopping at the La Trobe University Medical Centre. Travel time from La Trobe to/from the City is around 45 mins to 1 hour depending on traffic.

Campus Bus
A circular campus bus service operates every half hour between 8am and 4.25pm, Monday to Sunday. Please view the map and timetable for further information. An after-hours service is also available to escort students/staff from the library to car parks, residences and the tram stop.

Commuters can use the regular bus or tram service to La Trobe University and walk through the campus to the Institute of Archaeology within the Mont Park estate.
