Visiting the Institute
The Australian Institute of Archaeology is situated in the Mont Park complex near La Trobe University. It is one of a dozen buildings that are co-joined in echelon.
The Institute library is open to researchers and students however, before visiting the Institute it is wise to check with Christopher Davey on 0421 595 966 or email director@aiarch.org.au to confirm that the Institute is open.

By Car
La Trobe University, Bundoora campus is situated in the north-eastern suburb of Bundoora, at the intersection of Plenty Road and Kingsbury Drive, 14 kms from the Melbourne city centre. See Melways Maps 19 & 474. The Australian Institute of Archaeology is not located within the main campus of the University but on the adjacent Mont Park estate. It is best approached from Waiora Road. After passing Charles La Trobe College and the Cherry Road roundabout, turn left at Terrace Way and follow the road past the EPA Vehicle Testing Station. The Institute is Building TER11 and is clearly marked with signs.
Parking in Terrace Way is restricted prior to 5pm. Free two-hour parking is available along Ernest Jones Drive, which is East of the building and is the turn-off after Terrace Way. It is best to check with Christopher Davey 0421 595 966 or email: director@aiarch.org.au who can advise where it is best to park, as this changes from time to time.
By Train
The closest train station is Macleod Station (Hurstbridge Line). From the station walk up Cherry Street and turn right at Waiora Road. Turn left down Terrace Way, past the EPA buildings, and follow the road to the Institute.

By Tram to La Trobe University
Commuters can use the regular tram service to La Trobe University. Upon reaching the University, make your way through the campus to Carpark 6. From there, follow the walking track outlined on the map, through to the Mont Park estate and the Australian Institute of Archaeology.
Tram Route 86 connects to the University.
Trams commence in Docklands Drive near Waterfront City (Docklands) and runs via Harbour Esplanade, Latrobe St, Spencer St, Bourke St through the city, Spring St, Nicholson St, Gertrude St, Smith St in Collingwood, Queens Pde, High St through Northcote and turns half right into Plenty Rd at Preston. Alight the tram at La Trobe University Medical Centre. Travel time between La Trobe University and the City is about 45 mins to 1 hour depending on traffic.

By Bus to La Trobe University
Commuters can use the regular bus service to La Trobe University. Upon reaching the University, make your way through the campus to Carpark 6. From there, follow the walking track outlined on the map, through to the Mont Park estate and the Australian Institute of Archaeology.
